Two more retailers commit to shrimp welfare! 🦐✨ Jumbo Supermarkten (Netherlands) and Groupement Mousquetaires (France) recently joined the growing list of supermarket chains leading the way by implementing electrical stunning and eliminating eyestalk ablation in their supply chains. In total, 11 major retailers across Europe have committed to higher-welfare standards for farmed shrimps! 🇳🇱 Jumbo is the second-largest supermarket chain in the Netherlands behind Albert Heijn, who published their shrimp welfare policy in 2024. 🇫🇷 Les Mousquetaires is the first French retailer to do so, marking a meaningful milestone for humane slaughter and sustainable aquaculture. Shrimp Welfare Project celebrates this growing momentum for higher welfare in shrimp supply chains. By providing free electrical stunners and tailored consulting, we are proud to help the industry turn these commitments into meaningful change. 🌍 🌊 Dive into our Corporate Engagement programmes and learn how you can get involved: https://lnkd.in/e3ujxXmS #ShrimpWelfare #ElectricalStunning #HumaneSlaughter #EyestalkAblation #SustainableSeafood #ResponsibleAquaculture

“Shrimp? Really?” Yes, really. 🦐 Thanks to Current Affairs for featuring a Q&A with our Co-Founder and Board Chair, Andres Jimenez Zorrilla, in their new Animals Issue. Andrés gave a quick pitch about why people should care about shrimp welfare: "Shrimps make up the largest population of farmed animals, they feel pain, their suffering is widespread yet preventable, and small changes can improve billions of lives each year." ➡️ That's why Shrimp Welfare Project helps producers, suppliers, and retailers worldwide transition to higher-welfare practices. Shrimp Fact of the Month: 💧 Zen and the Art of Shrimp Maintenance 🎍 Bamboo Shrimps (Atyopsis) are the chillest crustaceans around. Instead of hunting, they sit in flowing freshwater with fan-like arms, filtering out microscopic snacks from the current. It’s a peaceful life, one gentle wave at a time.
