There were many inspiring and eye-opening insights shared at last night’s “Voices at the Table: How Variety of Perspectives Shapes Better Leadership” event, hosted in partnership with the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association and Takeda UK and Ireland As proud sponsors, we were thrilled to see leaders from across the life sciences industry come together to discuss how diverse perspectives drive innovation, inclusion, and measurable impact. A few standout takeaways: 🚀 DEI starts with leadership - it’s everyone’s responsibility, not just HR’s. 🌱 Embrace what makes you different; your individuality is your strength. 🤝 Hiring for diversity isn’t box-ticking - it’s about building stronger, more innovative teams. 📞 Mentorship fuels understanding and lasting cultural change. At Skills Alliance , we’re proud to partner with organisations and initiatives that celebrate diversity and empower inclusive leadership across the life sciences industry. Thank you to Samm Zombolo, our fantastic speakers Yasmin Baba, Marie Sanderson, Peter Wheatley Price (he/him/his) and Carlot Kruse, The HBA, and Takeda for an inspiring evening of collaboration and conversation. #DEI #InclusiveLeadership #LifeSciences #SkillsAlliance #HBALondon #WomenInSTEM #STEMnetworking

Skills Alliance reposted this
Yesterday, Skills Alliance joined forces with the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association & Takeda UK and Ireland to host a truly inspiring event! When I first started planning, I was narrowly focused on gender diversity; AKA my own lived experience with bias. But after reading the data and speaking with colleagues, clients, and candidates, I realized we needed to discuss more. Yes gender but also age, neurodiversity, race, sexual orientation, socio-economic upbringing, etc. I am so incredibly proud and thankful for Peter Wheatley Price (he/him/his), Marie Sanderson, Yasmin Baba and Carlot Kruse for joining me in a very transparent and honest conversation about diverse leadership, hiring approaches and building inclusive organizations. 🚀For leaders: Don’t leave the responsibility for building DEI infrastructure to Human Resources. Take ownership and actively champion opportunities to create programs and affinity groups that foster inclusion. 🌱 The first step in recognizing diversity often starts inward. Acknowledge what makes you different and use it as your strength. Be proud to be different and change the narrative. 🤝 Hiring isn’t about ticking boxes, it’s about building a team that excels together. Focus on what your team truly needs to thrive, not just who looks like the “ideal fit.” Tailor your approach for every hire to fill gaps and spark fresh ideas. 📞 Mentor. You’ll learn how others think, perceive, and experience the workplace. This can lead to change perspectives, more open dialogue and true cultural change. 📈The people who truly believe DE&I is just about quotas and numbers, are dwindling. It's proven that diversity drives revenue, retention and innovation. If you have any questions or thoughts, please don't hesitate to reach out for discussion! #STEMnetworking #DEI #InclusiveLeadership #InclusiveRecruitment #HBALondon #SkillsAlliance
