When data generated as a result of academic research is well managed and shared openly, it enables ideas to flourish, and allows for stronger, more rigorous academic debate. At Taylor & Francis we support the sharing of data generated during the course of a research project. With the help of DataSeer, an AI solution provider, we discovered that across a sample of over 8,000 Taylor & Francis journal articles published in 2023, 52% included a data availability statement. This shows a very high adoption from researchers in data sharing. This week we’re featuring the International Journal of Sustainable Engineering, an Open Access journal that had its very first issue 17 years ago this past June. Shahin Rahimifard has been the Editor-in-Chief since its start, and he wrote an introductory paragraph that still reads true today: “The recent meteorological events and the resulting major disasters linked to the impact of global warming and climate change have created unsurpassed interest and support throughout the international community and perhaps most importantly by businesses and governments.” Browse the latest issue of this journal: http://spr.ly/6048ACKvY Learn how you can share your research with a global audience: http://spr.ly/6041ACKvW #SustainableEngineering #OpenAccess

Nine years ago, Thorsten Wuest and his team published a research paper that has since had over 100,000 views. Entitled “Machine learning in manufacturing: advantages, challenges, and applications,” this work was at the forefront of the AI revolution in that sector, and has received more than a thousand visits each month since its publication, along with almost 600 citations. We asked Dr. Wuest, now globally recognized as one of SME’s 20 most influential professors in smart manufacturing, how publishing this article open access has impacted its reach. This month we’re spotlighting research and researchers from Australia and New Zealand. Meet Professor Joseph M. Cheer, Co-Editor-in-Chief of Tourism Geographies. Our team sat down with Professor Cheer to ask him about the work he does and his aspirations for the journal “Tourism Geographies.” This journal publishes critical, multidisciplinary work from social science fields such as geography, anthropology, sociology, area studies, urban and regional planning, environmental studies, and geospatial sciences. Professor Cheer explains the importance of connecting work with a broad audience: “Global accessibility is critical. Publishing on a platform that prioritizes discoverability increases the chances that research will reach the right hands and inform decisions beyond academia.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/e4mxBt2R Browse Open Access articles in this journal here: https://lnkd.in/e2NjtJAB #ResearchImpact

All month long this month we’re spotlighting research and researchers from Australia and New Zealand. Meet Dr. Jason Doyle, one of the three editors of “The Routledge Handbook of Digital Sport Management” along with Michael Naraine and Ted Hayduk III, PhD. Our team sat down with Dr. Doyle to ask him what aspects of our publishing process he’s found most effective in helping him achieve his research impact goals. Dr. Doyle feels strongly about the importance of peer review: “The peer-review process always helps to challenge thinking and improve the final version of what is published. The rounds of reviews typically help you to clarify and sharpen the main contributions your work offers, and can also help to identify new areas of impact which may have been previously overlooked.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/eMYkKS-B Preview the book here: https://lnkd.in/er5_Wr_x Routledge Books
