This spring, over 37 thousand member-owners told us what is important to them in our Big Co-op Survey. Watch this short film from our Group CEO Shirine Khoury-Haq about how we've listened and acted on this insight.

Our member-owners have called for us to act on climate change. In response, our partnership with RSPB to restore upland peatland in Scotland and Wales, brings vital peatland back into good condition to reduce carbon loss, and help to tackle climate change and protect nature. It’s a project that we’re proud to support, and we’re thrilled to see wildlife returning already.
High above, a Hen Harrier sky-dances. Below, Dunlins and Golden Plovers call across the blanket bog. And in newly formed pools, frogs are spawning… 🐸 This is the magic of healthy peatlands. They lock away carbon, store water, and provide a lifeline for some of our most special species. But more than 80% of the UK’s peatlands are damaged and leaking carbon. That’s why we’ve partnered with Co-op on a three-year project to protect peatlands at sites across Scotland and Wales. Together, we’re helping bogs bounce back: saving around 100,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions over the next 100 years, while securing habitat for wildlife and benefits for people. A big thank you to Co-op and all our peatland partners for helping us protect these special places. We're already seeing the impact...👇

With 1 in 5 pregnancies ending in loss, so many of our colleagues will experience this heartbreak. We’re committed to helping them with empathy, action, and meaningful support. Across the UK, small, local shops are under growing pressure – but they remain at the heart of community life. New Co-op research reveals: - Four in five people say small shops are vital to community life - Seven in ten say their high street is already in decline - Seven in ten say reforming business rates must be a Government priority this year Our new On Your Corner, In Your Corner campaign champions the role of small shops in creating thriving communities and calls for urgent action to protect them ahead of the Autumn Budget. From thousands of independent retailers we wholesale to, to the 2,300 Co-op stores serving local neighbourhoods every day, we’re standing up for the small, local shops that bring people together and keep communities strong. #SocialValue #Communities #BusinessRates #HighStreets

Where hate divides communities, co-operatives build them. As a member-owned business or organisation, cooperatives are a powerful and proven way to rebuild communities torn apart by hate, revive local economies, and give local people a meaningful stake. That’s why we’re campaigning the UK Government to increase funding for co-operatives in International Development and to put co-operation at the heart of building peace.
