“Africa is not on the sidelines of disability inclusion — it’s leading the way.” Last month, the first-ever Valuable 500 Africa Summit took place in Johannesburg, co-hosted with Afrika Tikkun and the Gauteng Provincial Government. More than 300 business leaders, policymakers and advocates gathered to unlock the potential of 80 million Africans with disabilities, a community rich in talent, innovation, and economic power. As the global community looks ahead to SYNC25 in Tokyo, the energy and insights from Johannesburg will feed into a worldwide moment of accountability and progress. The message was clear: when we align efforts and learn from each other, transformative change becomes possible. This National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we’re reflecting on a year of bold steps to advance disability inclusion across business and society. In 2025, we proudly launched the Nothing Without Us Awards in Cannes, celebrating creative work that authentically represents disability. We also introduced ART – the Authentic Representation Tool, designed to help organisations embed authentic disability representation across campaigns and communications. All these initiatives connect to our three Synchronised Collective Actions under the disability lens: - Reporting: Ensuring transparency and measurable impact. - Leadership: Equipping leaders to champion inclusion at every level. - Representation: Driving authentic, meaningful visibility of disabled people across industries. By taking these actions throughout the year, we’re building momentum, insights, and accountability that will inform and strengthen SYNC25, helping us shape a summit that drives even greater progress on disability inclusion. SYNC25 is where Valuable 500 companies turn commitments into collective action – secure your place: https://lnkd.in/eNGCGa5k [Image description: Text image that says 'Collective action starts here' with a logo of SYNC25 Valuable 500 Accountability Summit.
