Gillingham Bell has been brought in to advise on the master planning and leasing of the retail, dining and leisure opportunities here as part of the exciting expansion plans we have in place. The retail, leisure and dining facilities will include a new gym and health centre with pool, a hotel with conference facilities and a wide range of locations across the estate. Development plans will see the Campus grow further into a truly global destination for innovative companies, research organisations and scientific talent – driving cutting-edge science into advances in health and tackling some of humanity’s greatest challenges. Over the next few years, the Campus will expand from 125 acres to 440 acres, with the number of people working here expected to increase from around 3,000 to between 7,000 and 9,000. Technology, AI, and Big Data are playing an increasingly central role in the the Life Sciences sector. That’s why Cambridge Tech Week, which has brought together world-leading experts and strategic investors to drive growth and transformative change, has been such a significant event this week. With major tech and related infrastructure enhancements already embedded in our Campus expansion plans, we’re excited to see the spotlight shine on the incredible opportunities Cambridge has to offer. Alongside this, the sector has of course been boosted by the investments in the UK announced this week by Google, NVIDIA, Microsoft and others and the macro focus on the significant opportunities AI can deliver not least in Healthcare and Life Sciences. #tech #ai, #translationscience #Lifescience #technology

Fascinating look into the future of AI and healthcare from European Bioinformatics Institute | EMBL-EBI. A proof of concept on how AI can help tackle health issues through predictive modelling. Great to see it being picked up widely in the BBC News and other main media sites. https://lnkd.in/e8gYQ4Jj
What if you could get a glimpse of the future of your health, today? Researchers at EMBL-EBI, DKFZ German Cancer Research Center, and the University of Copenhagen (Københavns Universitet) have developed a generative AI model that uses large-scale health records to estimate how human health may change over time. Like a weather forecast, the model doesn’t say exactly what will happen, but it can estimate risks over time. For example, it could predict the chance of developing heart disease within the next year, much like forecasting the chance of rain tomorrow. Our model is not ready for clinical use, but it’s a proof of concept that AI can help us understand long-term health patterns. Such models are an important step towards more personalised and preventive care, and they could help healthcare systems better anticipate and plan for our future. Watch to find out more. Congratulations from all at the Campus to Sir Nigel Wilson on his appointment as the new chair of Cambridge Innovation Capital (CIC). We share his view of Cambridge as “one of the world’s most powerful science and technology ecosystems” and look forward to collaborating as the Campus continues to grow, offering opportunities for global businesses, entrepreneurs, spin outs and other investors looking to benefit from what’s on offer here. It’s an exciting time for the region with significant new funding and initiatives, such as the Government’s renewed focus on the Oxford Cambridge corridor as an engine for growth for the UK. As the most prominent backer of enterprise, innovation, spin outs and scale-ups, CIC will play a significant role in this and we welcome future opportunities to work together. https://lnkd.in/e4gcZX7e

The Wellcome Genome Campus recently hosted over 400 runners from eight regional running clubs for the final race of their 2025 5k Summer League. The run brought together participants from neighbouring communities across Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, and Essex to compete, celebrate, and close out the season with an awards ceremony. It’s always pleasure to welcome newcomers onto Campus and see how our open spaces and wonderful grounds can bring people together for health and wellbeing. Congratulations to the winners, as well as all the runners and volunteers who made the evening such a success!
