This week Allianz Direct hosted its Leadership Conference in Berlin. Together with Jorge Garre Alonso, Anian Haager & I spoke about how the Allianz Direct Platform evolved; how we perceive the current position of the platform in comparison to its peers and where we see it going in the next few years. It got me thinking more about what is really going to drive innovation in core insurance systems over the next few years. AI While Agentic AI is top of everyone's mind, I think that its impact in the short term won’t be as significant as in the longer horizon. Requirements for human in the loop and the time it will take for an organization to understand, accept, and plan for transformational, non-deterministic, Agentic AI workflows will take some time. That said, at some point we will look back with amazement at what did change, I just don't think that will be this year or next. For now, I see tremendous potential in AI to help people make informed decisions. What's the next best action, based on everything we already know about the customer - CLV, churn prediction, past NPS feedback? I’d like to see UI designs move away from data-heavy dashboards and toward focused suggestions - with the ability to explain the reasoning behind them. Workflows The ability to visualize and quickly iterate on processes will be a key driver in a companies' AI maturity. A lot of core processes today are hard coded across multiple systems. In many IT projects, figuring out what to build takes most of the time. Many companies underestimate how powerful it is to have a clean, visual map of their processes. That’s where orchestration layers come in – they will enable teams to see what processes are actually doing, and then make informed decisions about automation, whether AI-driven or not. Data Once you have a solid data platform, enabling people to securely yet simply access any data they need, the next step is encouraging usage. Most data platforms and visualization tools today claim business-friendly data discovery, but it’s the next generation of AI assistance that really enables the democratization of data. Being able to use English (or your chosen language) including your company's internal terminology, to explore and visualize data will unlock access for a whole new set of customers. Qover, a leading European insurtech, and Swiss insurer Helvetia Insurance Group have announced an expanded collaboration that will take their partnership beyond automotive insurance into multiple product lines and new markets. Tilo Schroiff, Head of Helvetia Insurance Group International Automotive, added: “We are excited to strengthen and expand our collaboration with Qover, a key platform partner within our Helvetia International Automotive ecosystem and beyond.
