YouTube just overtook ITV to become the UK's second most-watched media platform… behind only the BBC 💪 According to Ofcom's latest report, viewers spent an average of 39 minutes a day watching YouTube at home last year - with 16 minutes of that on their smart TV. The growth isn't just young people either. While 16-34 year olds are spending 18 minutes daily on the platform, even viewers over 55 doubled their TV-based YouTube usage. As Ofcom put it: "Scheduled TV is increasingly alien to younger viewers, with YouTube the first port of call for many when they pick up the TV remote." Creators aren’t operating in some separate “digital” category anymore… and they haven’t been for a long time. They’re directly competing with traditional broadcasters for living room attention - and in most cases, they’re winning. The regulator is now telling legacy broadcasters their future is "at risk" if they don't create more content for YouTube. The living room belongs to YouTube… especially 7pm on a Sunday 👀 🤝

As the son of a retired music teacher who also loves cars - this campaign struck a chord. A digital Out-of-Home campaign from Audi UK translating the engines of its RS models into sheet music 🎼🎵 Each creative features a single line of sheet music, created by composer Ben Parry, that translates the notations of a specific Audi model named underneath - such as the E-tron and RS3. The campaign is a great example of the opportunities on offer to be brand bold and demand audience attention creatively through the public screen of OOH. What a day! Yesterday Thinkbox Vision’s event saw many marketeers gather to explore the TV industry and the role advertising continues to play.   Our Chief Commercial Officer, Rak Patel was amongst the industry experts reflecting on the current state of play, speaking on a panel alongside commercial leads from Sky Media UK, ITV and Disney to discuss where TV is going and how it will better serve brands.   Key takeaways from the session include: - Reach, Trust & Effectiveness: TV remains a trusted platform, delivering reach and reliable results for brands in a fast-changing environment. - Industry Collaboration: Initiatives like Project Lantern are driving progress, creating universal measurement standards and increasing accessibility—especially for SMEs. - Positive Regulation: Governance and oversight provide brands with the confidence to invest in TV, knowing their campaigns are in a safe and effective space.   Attendees then got to hear the latest news from Project Lantern, a joint measurement initiative between Sky, ITV and Channel 4. There was an article in PRWeek UK a couple of weeks ago about how many PR leaders went to private school. (TL;DR – a lot.) Sarah Waddington CBE CDir ChartPR and Stephen Waddington set up Socially Mobile a couple of years back with a simple goal – to diversify the leadership demographic of the public relations industry. It's a brilliant initiative, and one that's clearly as important as ever. Applications for the next cohort are open – deadline 4 December.
