GenAI creative production is levelling the playing field for SMEs to make great ads faster, better and more affordably. ITV Media launched its GenAI creative production service almost a year ago with Sheepbridge Interiors and Travel House as our launch advertisers and with creative effectiveness measurement from System1... and the demand has been phenomenal, helping our creative producers to spend more time on coming up with ideas and enabling SMEs testing TV for the first time to have more effective ads for less. Great to contribute to this article with Emmett Lindner in The New York Times to share more on this - where he reports too that nearly 90 percent of marketers who spent more than $1 million on digital video ads last year are using or have plans to use generative A.I. to create video advertisements. YouTube just overtook ITV to become the UK's second most-watched media platform… behind only the BBC 💪 According to Ofcom's latest report, viewers spent an average of 39 minutes a day watching YouTube at home last year - with 16 minutes of that on their smart TV. The growth isn't just young people either. While 16-34 year olds are spending 18 minutes daily on the platform, even viewers over 55 doubled their TV-based YouTube usage. As Ofcom put it: "Scheduled TV is increasingly alien to younger viewers, with YouTube the first port of call for many when they pick up the TV remote." Creators aren’t operating in some separate “digital” category anymore… and they haven’t been for a long time. They’re directly competing with traditional broadcasters for living room attention - and in most cases, they’re winning. The regulator is now telling legacy broadcasters their future is "at risk" if they don't create more content for YouTube. The living room belongs to YouTube… especially 7pm on a Sunday 👀 🤝
