Great to see the Government setting out its blueprint for modern digital government, with a 6-point plan for reform, and a reference in it to the work we've done in a 'good practice example', with: Hillingdon Council became the first UK local authority to use voice automation and AI at scale, creating an AI-driven citizen contact system that reduces cost per call by 5% and immediately provided the capacity of 25-30 full time employees, successfully delivering a cost saving of £5 for every pound spent and allowing citizens to phone the council 24 hours a day. The Government’s AI Action Plan is a positive step that signals recognition of AI’s incredible potential to drive economic growth. The UK already has the talent, expertise and innovative companies needed to become a global AI powerhouse — what we need now is active government support to turn homegrown businesses into the AI leaders of the future. While it’s great to see AI on the agenda, the plan lacks focus on startups and scaleups in the UK. It’s vital that the government prioritises nurturing these businesses — not just creating a stronger market for large, established global players. #AI
