#VNGThoughtLeadership UNDERSTANDING AI’S IMPACT, SOLVING REAL‑WORLD PROBLEMS, KEEPING ROMANCE AND AMBITION ALIVE Recently, at the Tuoi Tre Startup Award 2025 event, Mr. Le Hong Minh, Founder and Chairman of VNG, delivered an inspiring talk on entrepreneurship with AI in Vietnam. From the perspective of a tech unicorn leader, Mr. Le Hong Minh shared practical approaches for AI startups: understanding the impact of AI technology and starting by solving real-world market problems. This way, AI startups can build capabilities and develop their own IP-driven solutions while generating revenue to survive and thrive. Drawing on VNG's 20-year journey, Mr. Le Hong Minh encouraged startups to nurture passion and ambition for innovation and global expansion. “Technology has changed so dramatically compared to 20 or 30 years ago. Young people in Vietnam can now think big and accomplish things our generation never dared imagine. The real question is: do you have the courage to think it and to do it?" - he said. Are we hiring future leaders using yesterday’s recruitment techniques? That question kept coming up in our team conversations at Nestlé Vietnam. We knew we had to do something different. Together with Vietcetera Media, we created the NESUP Hackathon—a recruitment experience that flipped the script. The buzz was unreal. Nearly 15000 students from across Vietnam applied for just 40 internship spots. After careful screening, we invited 107 to the Hackathon. Over two days, these young talents didn’t just face challenges—they got something more. We brought in experts to train them on pitching skills, generating insights with impact, and more. It wasn’t only about testing them; it was about adding real value in a fun, high-energy environment. Instead of interviews and case presentations, we watched teams tackle real business problems, race against the clock, and support each other through creative, digital, and resilience challenges. Some cracked under pressure; others found their stride. What stood out was the raw energy and creativity—especially from those who might have been overlooked in a traditional setting. We learned that when you give young people the right environment, they surprise you. They step up, they innovate, and they show you what the future could look like. The NESUP Hackathon isn’t perfect, but it’s real, it’s fun, and it’s helping us see young talent in a whole new light. So, are we still hiring for yesterday? Not anymore.
