Narrowing of shared path at Roe Street

An 8 metre section of the Principal Shared Path at Roe Street is to be reduced to 1 metre in width for 2 weeks from 11 October.

This reduction will apply while New MetroRail works are being completed on the northern cut and cover tunnel section at the Perth Rail Yard. See flyer (pdf 312kb)...

New bike parking facility at Fremantle train station

An undercover lock and ride facility has been added to the range of bike parking options at Fremantle train station.

The new facility will be under constant video surveillance and is based on similar secure bicycle storage in European cities such as Zurich, Copenhagen and Amsterdam. See the Minister's media statement...

2006-07 Country Pathways Funding

Cyclists and pedestrians in regional areas will benefit from the $748,000 of Country Pathways Grant Scheme (CPGS) funding provided this year.

The grants will help fund 34 regional local government projects, mainly shared paths, from Derby in the Kimberley to Albany in the Great Southern.

Over the past six years, the State Government has allocated more than $5.25 million through the CGPS, providing more than 320 km of shared paths. See details...

Bicycle maps in StreetSmart directory

In a first for Western Australia, the 2007 edition of the StreetSmart road directory will include four pages covering most of the Perth Bicycle Network.

Arranged by the Department for Planning and Infrastructure in conjunction with the Department of Land Information, the maps are the most comprehensive set of bicycle maps in any street directory in Australia. See the Minister's media statement ...

Banks Reserve - Bardon Park path open

The 1.2 km long recreational shared path through the attractive wetlands between Banks Reserve and Bardon Park in Mt Lawley is now open.

Path closures and detours

South Beach to Rollinson Road - Shared use path closed from June to mid December 2006, while the ANI Bradken site is demolished. An alternative route is available through South Beach estate between 7am and 6pm. Contact ENV Australia on 9289 8360 with any queries. See the map...

Western Australia is now the leading cycling State

According to the results of a national survey, the Department for Planning and Infrastructure system of linking cycling promotion and infrastructure construction has paid dividends, with WA achieving the largest growth in cycling in Australia.

It also has more women cycling than any other State.

The results were reported in the Exercise, Recreation and Sport Survey Annual Report 2004. See the Minister's media statement ...
