RG33 Series

The RG33 is a highly survivable MRAP vehicle that is the most advanced system in the RG series of mine protected vehicles, offering more volume under armor than any other mine protected vehicle and incorporating the latest designs protecting against IEDs.

The RG33 mine protected series of vehicles meets urgent requirements of U.S. and allied armed forces. The highly survivable RG33 incorporates a unique monocoque V-shaped hull design that leverages knowledge gained in recent and ongoing conflicts.

BAE Systems has been awarded an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract from the U.S. Marine Corps to provide RG33 4x4 and RG33 6x6 vehicles.  On January 26, 2007, BAE Systems received an initial delivery order for two RG33 4x4 vehicles and two RG33 6x6 vehicles for Marine Corps testing.  Subsequently, on February 14, 2007, BAE Systems received a second delivery order for 90 vehicles (15 RG33 4x4 vehicles and 75 RG33 6x6 vehicles).

Following those awards, on June 28, 2007, BAE Systems received another delivery order for 441 RG33 4x4 and RG33 6x6 vehicles.  The total number of RG33 vehicles to be fielded is 535.

Under the MRAP IDIQ contract, BAE Systems began delivering vehicles in March 2007 and will continue to deliver vehicles until 2008.The company has multiple tactical wheeled vehicles now in production and skilled employees with mine hardened vehicle production expertise in low-cost, low-risk U.S. production facilities.

BAE Systems used the latest design, modeling and simulation tools at its facilities in the U.S. and South Africa to prototype and produce the first vehicle, the 6x6 RG33L in only 7 months. The company has proven capability in rapidly producing and fielding highly survivable vehicles for the U.S. military.

This vehicle series delivers enhanced blast protection and may be equipped with a tailorable armor package. RG33 is available with base protection against medium machine gun or small arms fire and mine blast protection at a level equal to, or exceeding, any fielded mine protected vehicle – and the platform is designed with a power train equipped to handle upgrades and enhancements.

The mine protected vehicles are deployed as Infantry Carriers, Ambulance Vehicles, Command and Control; Convoy Escort; EOD; and other roles. The RG33 vehicles are recoverable by another RG33. The vehicle features on-board exportable power for C4I and other mission equipment.
