Fire Testing
Fire safety standards help manufacturers design and build better, safer products — and this saves lives. NTA offers fire-testing services to the recreational vehicle and manufactured housing industries to ensure that these structures are code compliant per existing national and international standards (FMVSS and ASTM), and protect consumers with safe designs and fire-resistant construction materials. Fire safety testing continues to play a major role in the success of these industries, and the safety and desirability of the products they manufacture.
What NTA can do
NTA performs testing to aid in determining the following:
- Surface flammability (radiant heat resistance)
- Flammability of interior materials
Our nationally recognized testing lab (view our IAS Scope of Accreditation), can perform fire testing to determine code compliance in the following ways:
- ASTM E162: Standard Test Method for Surface Flammability of Materials Using a Radiant Heat Energy Source
- FMVSS 302: Flammability of Interior Materials - Passenger Cars, Multipurpose Passenger Vehicles, Trucks, and Buses
