2021-08-21: IMLS Laura Bush Award -- A Graduate Certificate in Web Archiving

Our certificate and capstone course will be at the intersection of Computer Science, Library and Information Studies, and Cybersecurity. We are happy to have received a 2021 IMLS Laura Bush planning grant award to establish a graduate certificate in web archiving at ODU.  The project and resulting certificate program is a joint effort between the Web Science and Digital Libraries Research Group ( Nelson , Weigle ), the School of Cybersecurity (Wu), Library and Information Studies ( Kimmel ), and the ODU Libraries ( Ritchie ).   The deliverables for this 12 month project will include: 1) an environmental scan documenting the need of industry, university, and government organizations for employees with experience in web archiving, 2) materials for a graduate-level course in the technology, theory, and ethics of web archiving, and 3) a lessons learned report of our experiences working in a multidisciplinary team to del...

2016-09-09: Summer Fellowship at the Harvard Library Innovation Lab Trip Report

Myself standing at the main entrance of Langdell Hall I was honored with the great opportunity of collaborating with the Harvard Library Innovation Lab (LIL) as a Fellow this Summer. Located at Langdell Hall, Harvard Law School , the Library Innovation Lab develops solutions to solve serious problems facing libraries. It consists of an eclectic group of Lawyers, Librarians, and Software Developers engaged in projects such as  Perma.cc , Caselaw Access Project  (CAP), The Nuremberg Project , among many others .  The LIL Team To help prevent link ro t, Perma.cc creates permanent reliable links for web resources. The Caselaw Access Project is an ambitious project which strives to make all US case laws freely accessible online. The current collection to be digitized stands at over 42,000 volumes (nearly 40 million pages) .
