Professor Pui-In Mak (Elvis), born and raised in Macau, China, is a Foreign Fellow of  the Academy of Sciences of Lisbon, Portugal; Overseas Expert of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China; Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE, USA); Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET, UK), and Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC, UK). He is currently Director of the State-Key Laboratory of Analog and Mixed-Signal VLSI, University of Macau, and holds the Changjiang Chair Professorship conferred by the Ministry of Education of China. Professor Mak is active in the field of integrated circuits design and multidisciplinary research for over two decades. He is/was the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Letters (2024-2026), Associate Editor of the IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits (2018-2024), and Technical Program Committee Member of IEEE International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) (2017-2019). He was the Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (2014-2015) and IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society (2017-2018). He received the State Science and Technological Progress Award in 2011; the China 70th Anniversary Commemorative Medal in 2019; the Tencent Xplorer Prize in 2022; the ISSCC 70th Anniversary Top Contributing Author Award in 2023, and the Macau Medal-of-Merit in Education in 2024. In 2018, Professor Mak co-founded the Digifluidic Biotech Co. Ltd. With digital microfluidic chips and electronic-automated nucleic acid analysis systems as its core products, the company promotes the development of low-cost and rapid food safety inspections and disease screening.
