DiMark Third Project Partner Meeting and Inspiring Field Trip in Slovenia

Sep 8, 2025

On 2 September 2025, the DiMark project partners gathered at National Institute of Biology (NIB) for a dynamic hybrid meeting in Ljubljana, bringing together over 50 participants, both in person and online. All DiMark project partners (PPs) were present, alongside observers from various countries and institutions.

The meeting gave everyone a chance to look back at what’s been achieved and to come up with new ideas for what comes next. Topics included data collection strategies, upcoming project activities, financial reporting, communication, and overall management. PPs also had the chance to exchange with stakeholders and listen to feedback from EUSALP Action Groups 5 and 8, highlighting how the project can offer synergy with various Alpine strategies.

The next day, PPs took part in a field trip to two iconic Slovenian lakes – Lake Bled (DiMark key lake) and Lake Bohinj. The day began with a walk along the shores of Lake Bled, stopping at the inflow Mišca, the ARSO boathouse, and the outflow Jezernica. Experts from the Slovenian Environmental Agency (ARSO) shared updates on lake monitoring and water conditions, while colleagues from the National Research Council (CNR) demonstrated advanced spectroradiometric measurement techniques.

The group then travelled to Lake Bohinj, where a short hike to the inflow of Savica offered further insights into monitoring practices and environmental status, again with valuable input from ARSO and NIB. The combination of interesting discussions during the PP meeting and the direct exploration in the field during the trip provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen collaboration across the DiMark consortium. Partners left Ljubljana motivated to continue advancing the project’s goals together.
