MLB Ejection 010 - Sean Barber (1; Melvin Upton Jr)

HP Umpire Sean Barber ejected Padres LF Melvin Upton Jr for arguing a strike two call in the bottom of the 7th inning of the Cardinals-Padres game. With two out and none on, Upton Jr took two fastballs from Cardinals pitcher Kevin Siegrist for called first and second strikes, before striking out on a later pitch. Replays indicate the first and second strikes were located over the inner edge of home plate and thigh high (px1 -.888, pz1 2.408; px2 -.811, pz2 1.848 [sz_bot 1.650]), the call was correct.* At the time of the ejection, the game was tied, 5-5. The Cardinals ultimately won the contest, 8-5.

HP Umpire Mike Muchlinski ejected Padres CF Melvin Upton, Jr. for arguing a strike two call in the bottom of the 9th inning of the Rockies-Padres game. With none out and none on, Upton took a 2-1 fastball from Rockies pitcher John Axford for a called second strike. Replays indicate the pitch was located over the outer edge of home plate and thigh high (px .885, pz 2.095), the call was correct. At the time of the ejection, the Rockies were leading, 6-4. The Rockies ultimately won the contest, 6-4.

HP Umpire Lance Barrett ejected Braves CF B.J. Upton for arguing a strike three call in the top of the 6th inning of the Braves-Giants game. With one out and none on, batter Upton took a 2-2 curveball from Giants pitcher Juan Gutierrez for a called third strike. Replays indicate the pitch was located off the outer edge of home plate and thigh high (px .937, pz 2.412), the call was incorrect. At the time of the ejection, the Giants were leading, 7-4. The Giants ultimately won the contest, 10-4.

With none out and none on, Upton took a 3-2 fastball from Pirates pitcher Wandy Rodriguez for a called third strike. Replays indicate the pitch was located over the heart of the plate and at the knees (px -.117, pz 1.868, sz_bot 1.625), the call was correct. At the time of the ejection, the Pirates were leading, 6-0. The Pirates ultimately won the contest, 6-0.
