MiLB Ejections - Eric Gillam (Lloyd McClendon, Weber)

Lloyd McClendon might be a minor leaguer, but his ejection theatrics are still Major League and were on display on Father's Day in the International League, when he and his pitcher were ejected.

HP Umpire Eric Gillam ejected Mud Hens P Thad Weber and Manager Lloyd McClendon for arguing balls and strikes in the top of the 6th inning of the Red Wings-Mud Hens game. With none out and two on, Red Wings batter Logan Schafer hit 3-1 fastball from Weber for a run-scoring single, resulting in a mound visit and pitching change, during which, Weber and McClendon were ejected. At the time of the ejections, the Red Wings were leading, 2-1. The Red Wings ultimately won the contest, 8-5.

MLB Ejection 170: Quinn Wolcott (3; Lloyd McClendon)

HP Umpire Quinn Wolcott ejected Mariners Manager Lloyd McClendon for arguing ball calls in the top of the 8th inning of the White Sox-Mariners game. With one out and three on, Mariners pitcher Rob Rasmussen walked White Sox batters Carlos Sanchez and Tyler Flowers, consecutively. Replays indicate of 14 pitches ruled 'ball' by Wolcott during the Sanchez, Flowers and preceding Alexei Ramirez (walk), Adam LaRoche (double), and Melky Cabrera (single) at-bats, all 14 were officiated correctly (100% Accuracy), the call was correct. At the time of the ejection, the White Sox were leading, 8-3. The White Sox ultimately won the contest, 11-4.

With two out and one on, Twins batter Kurt Suzuki attempted to check his swing on a 1-1 slider from Mariners pitcher Carson Smith. This play has been referred to the UEFL Appeals Board for further review (Check Swing). At the time of the ejection, the game was tied, 2-2. The Twins ultimately won the contest, 3-2.

With two out and one on, Yankees batter Alex Rodriguez attempted to check his swing on a 3-2 changeup from Mariners pitcher Mike Montgomery, ruled no swing by HP Umpire Mike DiMuro and affirmed by Little. Play was reviewed and affirmed by the UEFL Appeals Board (6-2-0), the call was correct. At the time of the ejection, the game was tied, 0-0. The Yankees ultimately won the contest, 5-3.

MLB Ejection 031: Sean Barber (1; Lloyd McClendon)

HP Umpire Sean Barber ejected Mariners Manager Lloyd McClendon for Unsportsmanlike-NEC in the top of the 4th inning of the Twins-Mariners game. With none out and one on, Twins batter Chris Herrmann took a 1-1 curveball from Mariners pitcher Roenis Elias for a called second strike. Replays indicate all pitches during the inning were correctly officiated and the call immediately preceding ejection benefitted McClendon's team; thus, the call was irrecusable. At the time of the ejection, the Twins were leading, 2-0. The Twins ultimately won the contest, 4-2, in 11 innings.

MLB Ejection S-12: Alan Porter (S1; Lloyd McClendon)

HP Umpire Alan Porter ejected Mariners Manager Lloyd McClendon for arguing warnings and an ejection no-call (Unsporsmanlike-NEC) in the top of the 4th inning of the Mariners-Indians game. With two out and none on, Mariners batter Rickie Weeks took two fastballs from Indians pitcher Bruce Chen inside for called balls, whereupon Porter issued warnings to both teams. Replays indicate the pitches were thrown behind Weeks, who eventually struck out swinging; Mariners pitcher Felix Hernandez had hit Indians batter Michael Brantley with a pitch in the bottom of the 2nd inning, the call was irrecusable. At the time of the ejection, the Indians were leading, 7-4.

MLB Ejection 177: Jeff Nelson (5; Lloyd McClendon)

1B Umpire Jeff Nelson ejected Mariners Manger Lloyd McClendon for arguing a Replay Review (baserunner placement) decision that overturned 2B Umpire Pat Hoberg's HR call in the top of the 7th inning of the Astros-Mariners game. With one out and none on, Astros batter Robbie Grossman hit a 3-1 fastball from Mariners pitcher Brandon Maurer on a fly ball toward the right field wall, where it was deflected by right fielder Michael Saunders to center fielder Austin Jackson and reversed to a triple following Crew Chief Review. Replays indicate the ball did not leave the playing field and that Grossman would have achieved third base, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the game was tied, 1-1. At the time of the ejection, the Mariners were leading, 1-0. The Mariners ultimately won the contest, 4-1.

With one out and none on, Tigers batter Alex Avila attempted to check his swing on a 3-2 fastball from Mariners pitcher Tom Wilhelmsen for a called fourth ball affirmed on appeal. Replays indicate Avila did not attempt to strike the pitch, the call was correct. QOC has been reversed to "incorrect" by the UEFL Appeals Board. At the time of the ejection, the Mariners were leading, 7-0. The Mariners ultimately won the contest, 8-1.
