Upon Instant Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Brewers Manager Ron Roenicke, Danley's ruling that Rizzo caught the ball and tagged first base prior to Braun's touch arrival was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Brewers were leading, 2-1.

In the 8th, with none out and none on, Brewers batter Jean Segura hit a 3-2 changeup from Cubs pitcher Wesley Wright on the ground to second baseman Emilio Bonifacio, who threw to first baseman Rizzo as Segura arrived at first base.
