About

The Vice Presidency for Human Development (VPH) at EPFL is responsible for HR policy concerning academic, scientific, administrative, and technical personnel. The VPH supports all stages of the employee life cycle, overseeing skills development, leadership, and career growth, ensuring workplace well-being and compliance with legal personnel standards.

The VPH ensures that all members of the EPFL community can study and work in an inclusive and equitable environment that respects diversity and promotes both mental and physical health. It also fosters the institution’s values and culture.

Within its own teams, the VPH embraces modern management practices that incorporate digital transformation and sustainability principles. Additionally, it encourages the development of innovative human development projects in collaboration with national and international institutions.

Organizational Structure

The implementation of the VPH’s missions is entrusted to four departments, with the support of the office staff.

EPFL created the Vice Presidency for Human Development in order to bolster its commitment to meeting our community’s diverse needs. We put people at the center of our work, seeking to provide them with a healthy, stimulating and inclusive environment. We want every single member of our community to feel valued and to be able to fully contribute to our School’s mission. Our efforts are aimed at managing human resources fairly by promoting well-being, equal opportunity and skills and career development, among other things. I’m looking forward to getting started!
