Meeting of the DEVE Committee 05 November
The Committee on Development will meet on 05 November to discuss the following files:
- Exchange of views of the European Gender Equality (25 Anniversary) on 'advancing a gender-responsive Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus';
- Hearing Jointly with the Committee on Foreign Affairs on the EU-Africa Relations ahead of the 7th AU-EU summit;
- Exchange of views jointly with the Committee on Foreign Affairs on the humanitarian situation and early reconstruction in Ukraine with Ukrainian government, humanitarian partners, and the Commission;
- Presentation of the draft report on 'Reinforcing development cooperation to address irregular population movements and their root causes in partner countries';
- Debriefing of the Committee on Development / Team Europe Mission to Namibia, 16-19 September 2025;
- Votes:
- Amending Regulation (EU) 2021/947 as regards increased efficiency of the External Action Guarantee

On Thursday, 16 October 2025, the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) and the Committee on Development (DEVE) organised a joint public hearing on "Global Gateway – past impacts and future orientation". This hearing brought together experts and stakeholders to discuss the achievements and challenges of the Global Gateway strategy, launched by the Commission in 2021.
On 23 September, the Committees on Foreign Affairs and on Development, together with the Subcommittee on Human Rights, presented the candidates for this year's Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought, one of the most important events of the European Parliament. On 16 October, the AFET and DEVE committees will meet again to narrow down the list of nominees to a three-candidate shortlist, via a secret vote.
The nominees for this year’s Prize will be presented by the political groups in a joint meeting of the Committees on Foreign Affairs (AFET) and on Development (DEVE) and the Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI) in Brussels on 23 September, 14:30-15:30.
