On 5 November, Dr. Wilma Nusselder and Dr. Jeanine Roeters van Lennep, authors of the "Analysis of the Results of the European Parliament’s Public Consultation on Women’s Health", will present their findings on SANT consultation on women's health.
On 5 November, SANT Members will continue the exchange of views in the series "Excellence in health science". Mr Jussi Hahtela, CEO of the Finnish SME Biohit, will share insights into the burden of gastric cancer, its preventability, and non-invasive, cost-effective screening methods, which will be followed by the discussion with SANT Members.
On 5 November, European Parliamentary Research Service will present the study "Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan: Implementation findings", which was conducted upon the request of the Committee on Public Health, to support the evidence base of the own-initiative implementation report on Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan. The presentation will be followed by Q&A session between SANT Members and main authors of the study.
World Polio Day emphasizes the worldwide commitment to eradicating poliomyelitis (polio) and raises awareness about the crucial role of vaccination in protecting children, especially those under 5, from this serious infectious disease. Polio targets the nervous system and can cause paralysis of various parts of the body. It can be fatal if the respiratory muscles are immobilized. Since the 1980s vaccination campaigns have reduced the incidence of polio by more than 99%.
On 23 October in Strasbourg, SANT and EMPL committees held a joint meeting to discuss the draft report on “An EU health workforce crisis plan: sustainability of healthcare systems, and employment and working conditions in the healthcare sector.”
World Restart a Heart Day is a worldwide campaign observed to raise awareness on the importance of learning cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and using defibrillator in cases of sudden cardiac arrest and supports people to learn CPR.
World Mental Health Day aims to increase global understanding of mental health challenges and encourage action to support mental well-being. The focus for this year’s World Mental Health Day is "Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies". Each year, millions of people are impacted by crises such as wars and natural disasters. These events disrupt families, communities, jobs, but they also take a serious toll on people’s mental health.
World Heart Day aims to raise public awareness of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and the importance of taking care of your heart.
World Rabies Day is celebrated annually to raise awareness about rabies prevention and to highlight progress in defeating this horrifying disease.
