Research questions / Visits

Frontex is happy to cooperate with researchers and students and we will do utmost to accommodate their needs. We are also able to host groups of students and researchers in our Warsaw headquarters. However, in view of the very high number of requests, we would like to ask you to send your enquiries at least three weeks in advance.

Who We Encourage To Visit

Frontex welcomes organized group visits, especially from:

  • Law enforcement organisations’ delegations
  •  Academic and professional groups (NGOs) directly interested in European border management.
  • International/EU law and diplomacy students focusing on migration and/or border management.
  • International relations students focusing on migration and/or border management.

Visit Guidelines

Group Composition:

  • Minimum of 10 participants 
  • Maximum of 25 participants
  • Only group applications accepted (no individual visits)

Scheduling:

  • Advance notice required: Minimum 4 weeks before proposed visit
  • Visit duration: ca. 1-1.5 hours 
  • Presentations are conducted in English

Application Process

  • Interested group should submit a detailed request via our group visit contact form: [Contact Form Link/Email to be inserted]
  • The request should be made by a representative of the institution or body.

Important Notes

  • Visits are subject to Frontex's operational schedule and availability

We reserve the right to: 

  1. Postpone visits
  2. Cancel scheduled visits
  3. Merge compatible groups together for organisational purposes.

If a group exceeds the maximum participant limit, or we cannot accommodate the visit for some other reason, we offer a virtual meeting as an alternative.

Rules for operating drones in the vicinity of Frontex HQ

An active no-fly zone EPP 26 Frontex has been established in the vicinity of the Agency’s headquarters.

Frontex may grant exceptional permissions for flights in the zone. This requires the UAV operator to visit Frontex’s headquarters in person:

Warsaw 00-844, Plac Europejski 6,
From Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 17:00

What you have to bring with you:

  • ID card;
  • A valid UAV Operator License;
  • Consent of PANSA to perform flights in CWA EPWA;
  • Flight area;
  • Dates and times of flights and their completion.
