If you create an individual user account for SAM.gov (through login.gov) using your federal government email address (i.e., one that ends in .mil, .gov, .si.edu, .dodea.edu, or uhuhs.edu), the system will grant you access to view entities that have opted out of public display, also known as “not for public display” (NPDY).
Access to for official use only (FOUO) data requires what’s known as a role in SAM.gov. FOUO data includes an entity’s size metrics, electronic data interchange (EDI) information, email addresses for points of contact, and other data. Various federal roles can provide you this access, but all require that the View FOUO Entity Data permission be assigned.
If you require access to sensitive entity data, such as banking data, you need to have the View Sensitive Entity Data permission assigned.
Role requests are approved by administrators within your department or independent agency when you supply a valid mission need for the information requested.
To request a role, please view these instructions.
