Prompt Discussion: Organize a meeting to address issues quickly, like scheduling a team huddle to discuss differing opinions on client strategy. Encourage Empathy: Have team members share their views, fostering understanding, such as role-playing scenarios to appreciate each other's challenges. Active Listening: Promote listening skills by summarizing others' points, ensuring everyone feels heard, like repeating back a colleague's concerns about project deadlines. Seek Mediation: Involve a neutral party if tensions rise, such as asking a manager to facilitate discussions when disagreements escalate. Collaborative Solutions: Focus on finding common ground, like brainstorming together to create a unified action plan for the client's case.

When facing team conflicts, I've found that creating a safe space for open dialogue makes all the difference. I first focus on identifying the root cause, since conflicts stem from misunderstandings. I encourage team members to practice empathy by considering each other's perspectives. By keeping our focus on client needs, we find common ground. Sometimes, bringing in a mediator can help facilitate discussions. What has worked for you in managing team conflicts? Share your experiences! Conflicts over a patient’s case are common in oncology, particularly between surgical, chemotherapy and radiotherapy departments. To address this, it is essential to establish a multidisciplinary board where cases can be discussed openly. Participating doctors should be encouraged to present data and evidence supporting their proposed line of treatment. Additionally, referencing successfully treated instances can serve as valuable examples to guide decision-making and foster consensus.
