When I’ve implemented routing, dispatch, or ELD systems, the key to success wasn’t just the software—it was open communication with the team using it daily. Before launch, I set clear expectations and discussed both benefits and challenges. More importantly, we built trust by encouraging drivers to flag routes that didn’t make sense. In one rollout, we included 2-3 drivers in weekly feedback meetings. This saved miles and corrected routes where drivers were arriving too early—something they wouldn’t normally complain about, but it still impacted efficiency. KPIs tell a story, but driver insights fill in the gaps. How do you keep drivers engaged when rolling out new tech? #FleetOps #Routing #Leadership

Create role-specific training modules: Dispatchers, drivers, and managers need different aspects of the system. Customize training to focus on features relevant to each role. Designate internal champions: Select tech-savvy team members to become system experts who can provide peer support and quick solutions during daily operations. Use phased implementation: Break down training into digestible modules - start with basic features before advancing to complex functionalities. Implement a buddy system: Pair experienced users with newcomers to facilitate knowledge sharing and build confidence through mentorship.

I would add the primary objective is for your team to learn how to correctly integrate the new route planning technology. I would consider offering training that focuses on understanding. You can also consider which topics to prioritize during each training session. Finally, decide how you want to verify in real time the transfer of knowledge to each of the training participants.
