Networking events where you will meet others that work in your field will expose you to people who could hold knowledge about hidden job opportunities that haven't been advertised. Or somebody you meet and get to know could recommend you to a company or senior manager. It's a great way of sharing information as well as growing your network of influence.

Networking takes work, it's in the word. Even so, it is worth it for your professional career, getting things done, helping people, and even in your personal life. Find events by searching for them with your favorite search engine or an AI that is connected to the Internet for current events. i.e., Perplexity, LinkedIn, etc. You most likely will have to pay to attend, there are free events, as far as networking, you get what you pay for. There are the rare gems that are free, do your research. Have your elevator speech memorized well enough that it's truly part of you. You've got to know your why, your what, and who (the industry) you want to network with. You've got to be willing to help. People that are true great networkers love helping.

By interacting with people from different companies and sectors, you get exposed to a broader range of opportunities that you might not have considered. Engaging in conversations with experienced professionals can improve your understanding and skills. You might meet someone who can offer you guidance or mentorship, helping you navigate your career path more effectively.
