You don't have to stay positive. You can be optimistic that you're still part of an interview process AND be disheartened, disappointed, or unhappy. Nobody said you have to only or always be positive. That's unrealistic and exhausting.

You can't have delays in application processes for every job. Yes, being positive provides you with further options for reaching your goals. You might be delayed, but there are many other job applications open, at present, that you can consider based on your priorities. You can't stuck with a few jobs. Just keep searching for more.

Unexpected delays in the job application process can be frustrating, but they’re also an opportunity to stand out. Be proactive by reaching out to the hiring manager with a polite follow-up to express your continued interest. Use the extra time to enhance your qualifications—take an online course or work on a relevant project to show your commitment. Diversifying your efforts doesn’t mean you’re giving up on the original opportunity; instead, it’s about maintaining momentum and keeping your options open in a competitive job market.

Are there skills you could develop to make yourself a more competitive candidate?
