This is such an important question. I’ve found that many clients struggle to stand out because they’re trying to fit in with what they think success is supposed to look like—polished, perfect, and often inauthentic. In my work, we peel back those layers and focus on alignment: owning their story, showing up with confidence, and using their real voice instead of a filtered version. Curious to hear from others—what’s helped your clients shift from blending in to standing out with intention and impact?

If your online presence isn’t telling your story, you might be missing opportunities. Social media, especially LinkedIn, is more than just a profile. It is a positioning tool. Share what you know. Comment with intention. Talk about the work you're proud of. You do not need to post every day or be a content expert. You just need to show up consistently and add value. When your digital presence reflects your expertise, opportunities start to come to you. Visibility builds credibility, and credibility opens doors.

To stand out professionally on social media, focus on building a clear personal brand and sharing content that reflects your expertise and adds real value. Highlight your achievements in a smart, engaging way, and connect with people in your industry. Keep your profile polished and active — it should represent who you are. It's not about follower count, it's about the impression you make.

Many of my mentees feel lost when trying to stand out online. I always tell them that, your social media is your digital handshake. Use LinkedIn to share your wins, ideas, and career journey. Write simple posts about what you’ve learned, how you solve problems, or what inspires you to solve problems. Add a professional photo, a clear headline, and an "About" section that tells your story. Be consistent and real. When used properly, the social media isn’t just a platform, it’s a powerful tool to open all the doors which create opportunities to grow.

To really stand out online, your clients should use social media to show what they know and what they care about. That means sharing helpful insights, posting content that reflects their expertise, and jumping into conversations in their industry. Their profiles should look polished—clear headline, good photo, and a strong summary. It’s also about being active: commenting on posts, joining groups, and connecting with others. The more they show up and add value, the more people will start to notice—and that’s how opportunities come their way.

I see this struggle all the time with accounting professionals trying to show up and stand out on social media. They get caught up in perfection—recording the same video over and over because it’s not "perfect," and then nothing gets posted. The key to standing out is simple: be yourself. My clients grow by showing up authentically. They stand out because they sound real and share genuine experiences, not filtered, AI-generated content. Once they let go of the need for perfection and embrace their true selves, their personal brand shines, and they start gaining the recognition and connections they’re after.

These days, your online presence is non-negotiable. I tell my clients to treat it like their passport because no one travels without one. Without a compelling, professional online presence, it’s like showing up at the airport without a passport: you’re invisible. To stand out, I advise: - Consistent information across all platforms - Same username for better SEO - Quality content related to your profession especially on LinkedIn - Accurate, up-to-date details - A professional personal photo Your online presence should introduce you before you even speak.

Posting more isn’t the answer—positioning is. To stand out professionally, clients must shift from noise to narrative. 1. Define a Niche POV Help clients pick one core theme they can own. It’s not just about being visible—it’s about being remembered. 2. Share Stories, Not Just Stats Encourage posts that blend achievements with personal insight. This builds credibility and relatability. 3. Engage Like a Peer, Not a Fan Instead of lurking, comment thoughtfully on leaders’ content. This signals confidence and creates real conversations. Professionals who consistently post and engage on LinkedIn see 6x more profile views and 3x more job opportunities (LinkedIn, 2023).

It takes a little more to stand out than just posting about random topics. 1. Have a clean, blear pic and banner. An engaging About page. 2. Comment on other posts. But be human. No AI responses. The more you engage, the more people remember you and tend to read and comment on your posts. Be sure to answer those comments, too. 3. Be strategic in your posts. Don't write a book. Use smaller sentences. Structure it nicely. Use lists. Make it easy to read. 4. Topics should be informative, helpful, but not dry. Don't use corporate jargon. Be yourself. Throw in some humor. 5. Tell on yourself. Talk about mistakes and how you overcame. It's imperative these days to brand yourself. The days of just sending a resume is over.
