I hit a point where every day felt like a loop. Instead of jumping ship, I paused to ask: is it the role or how I'm approaching it? What worked: 1. I listed what energized me vs. what drained me. 2. I asked for new challenges that aligned with my strengths. 3. I set a 3-month check-in to track progress and mindset. Sometimes it’s not a new job you need it’s a new lens. That shift brought the spark back.

Isso depende muito, eu sei como é estar em uma empresa pequena, realmente é um desafio fazer algo inovador, e trazer todos para essa nova visão, muitos preferem continuar do jeito que se está. O que podemos fazer são pequenas mudanças na de ser radical muitos não vai aceitar de primeira, entendo que isso pode levar tempo, mais cada pessoa precisa de seu processo de alocação a novas mudanças cada um lida de uma maneira. Isso se torna mais desafiador quando a empresa é de família, as vezes você não terá voz, então precisa ganhar confiança e mostra que suas ideias podem ajudar evoluír o lugar que será bom para empresa e para melhor até der os clientes. - Faça reuniões - Todos devem participar - Todos devem expor ideias e melhorias

Feeling stuck doesn’t always mean it’s time to quit. Ask yourself: Why am I stuck? – Lack of growth, passion, or clarity? Can it change? – Are there new goals, roles, or skills to explore? What excites me? – Does another path energize you more? Test before jumping – Try side projects or networking in new areas. If growth feels impossible and passion is gone, it might be time to pivot.

At some point, many professionals, myself included, feel stuck, even in roles we once found exciting. If you’re running a small business and questioning your next step, you’re not alone. The real challenge isn’t in leaving or staying, it’s in identifying whether your current path still aligns with your evolving goals and values. Career growth doesn’t always mean a leap; sometimes it’s a pivot, a partnership, or a new vision for what you’ve already built. I’ve learned that clarity comes from honest reflection, not pressure. If you’re at that crossroads, take time to ask: is it stagnation, or transformation in disguise?

Reflect on your goals, passions, and what’s causing the feeling of being stuck. If growth feels impossible despite effort, it may be time to explore new opportunities aligned with your values and skills.

Initiate a value engineering project. - Will my Initiative be appreciated? - Interact with people who helps you see the bigger picture.

Growth Mindset: A career change is often a catalyst for personal development. Think about how the new role will help you grow, both professionally and personally. Passion vs. Security: Are you choosing this change for passion, or are you prioritizing job security and stability? Be honest with yourself about your motivations and what aligns with your values. Long-Term Vision: Where do you see yourself in 5–10 years? Does your current role align with that vision, or do you need to make a change to pursue bigger goals?

I’m recently experiencing this process. When thinking about the right timing, the answer is there’s never a right time. There will always be uncertainty, risk and fear. How do you know if you should take the leap of faith? You don’t. However, if the constant feeling of “there might be something else” is unshakable, and you can manage at least 8 months of no income or fairly less income, my advise would be go for it. Yes it will be hard work. There will be amazing and inspiring days full of joy, there will also be fearful days with a side of anxiety. But what a blessing to be tired in the pursuit of a challenge of our own choosing. Creating a career change aligned with your true self can’t be a mistake.

Make an Informed Decision: After assessing the situation, you should have a clearer sense of whether a career change is the right choice. Weigh the pros and cons carefully. Set Actionable Goals: If you decide to change careers, create a roadmap for how you’ll transition. If you decide to stay, figure out what changes or new goals you can set within your current role to reignite your passion. Don’t Rush: Give yourself time to make this decision. Sometimes the best course of action is to take a little time away from work (like a short sabbatical or vacation) to reflect.

Feeling stuck in a small business role can be unsettling, but it’s also an opportunity to reflect deeply on what’s driving that feeling. From my perspective, it’s important to distinguish between a temporary dip in motivation and a more fundamental misalignment with the role or business. I take time to reassess my goals, values, and what energises me day to day. Sometimes the solution lies in redefining responsibilities or seeking new challenges within the business. Other times, it may signal that a career change is worth exploring. Either way, clarity comes from honest reflection and a willingness to act with purpose.
