Very briefly, Quantitative data are explanations of statistical relationship between two variables. Qualitative data are data about the processes that connect people, events and situations. Researcher is interested not only to understand physical events and behavior that are taking place but also how participants make sense of these, and *how their understanding* influence their behavior. End of the day, all that the product team wants to know are the user/customer jobs, their pains, pain relievers, gains and gain creators. We need both quant and qual data to understand these.

As designers, we gotta go beyond just counting clicks and page views. It's about capturing the real user experience, you know? Take Airbnb for example. They didn't just track bookings. They got smart and started measuring "belonging" - how at home people felt in their rentals and it worked wonders! So we need to think like that. How do we put a number on satisfaction or ease of use? Net Promoter Score (NPS) is one way - asking users how likely they'd recommend your product. Or look at task completion rates - how smoothly are people getting stuff done? This way, the user experience gets a seat at the big table, right next to all those traditional metrics.
