The African Academy of Sciences (AAS) is proud to deepen scientific cooperation with the European Research Council (ERC)! Today, we signed a landmark Implementing Arrangement at the European Commission. This agreement signed by AAS President Professor Lise Korsten and ERC President Professor Maria Leptin marks a new phase of Africa Europe collaboration in frontier science and innovation. It formalizes our successful partnership, building on the foundation of the African Research Initiative for Scientific Excellence #ARISE which has supported nearly 600 researchers across 38 African countries. The new arrangement strengthens collaboration on research excellence, mobility, and scientific networking under the AU–EU Innovation Agenda. It also sets the stage for ARISE 2.0, a Team Europe and Team Africa initiative to expand support for African scientists. At AAS, we are committed to building a future where African and European researchers co-create knowledge for global impact. #ARISE #AfricanScience #Research #Innovation #SDG17 European Research Council (ERC) @EU International Partnerships European Commission EURAXESS Africa African Union Carnegie Corporation of New York
