The U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Statistics needed to standardize misdemeanor data across all 50 states, as definitions of charges vary. As a proof of concept, Abt fine-tuned a generative AI model to replicate and modify a complex felony charge crosswalk. We completed it in 20% of the time it took to build manually—and the model flagged potential inconsistencies the original missed. 🎥 Watch the story. #DOJ #AIforGovernment #JusticeInnovation

🔎 For decades, Abt has informed the policies and programs that move Americans from job searches to meaningful careers. Our 1998 evaluation of the Maryland Unemployment Insurance Work Search Demonstration showed that small changes to job search rules could get people back to work faster. Our findings influenced how states designed reemployment services and shaped the Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessments (RESEA) program. Today, we help workforce agencies across the country build and apply evidence to strengthen RESEA implementation and drive continuous improvement. 👉 https://lnkd.in/efHtaeCr 🚀 But finding work is only the first step. As agencies looked to support economic advancement, Abt evaluated more than a dozen career pathways programs, including ACF's Pathways for Advancing Careers and Education (PACE) and the Health Profession Opportunity Grants (HPOG). These efforts served tens of thousands of participants and generated some of the strongest evidence to date on what moves people into high-growth careers. Today, that work continues with our evaluation of FareStart's sectoral employment model, which is helping build new evidence on advancement pathways in food services - a sector not often viewed as offering long-term career mobility. Abt also manages the Pathways to Work Evidence Clearinghouse for ACF - an online resource that distills decades of evaluation findings on employment and training programs into clear, accessible insights for program providers, funders, and practitioners. 👉 https://lnkd.in/eg8iEzAN Workforce programs are key infrastructure for strong economies and career opportunities. We help ensure they’re built on what works. #Abtis60

📊📈How are we making justice data more actionable? In this blog, Abt's Chris Cutler discusses how we helped transition the Federal Criminal Case Processing Statistics (FCCPS) Data Tool to a Tableau-based platform. The update brought new flexibility - multiple filters, interactive graphs, and heat maps - so data are far easier to explore and apply. https://lnkd.in/g3xrym6P #JusticeData #DataDriven

We were excited to hear Arianne Gallagher-Welcher, Executive Director of Digital Service at USDA, explain how the agency harnesses AI for better service delivery—from firefighting fuel predictions to tailored nutrition programs. Her remarks in a recent FedScoop interview show just how vital AI is now to USDA’s mission. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e3KjayY6 We support that momentum. Our work with USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service shows what’s possible when you pair mission expertise with modern, AI-ready platforms. The Dynamic Soils Hub unifies decades of data, equips field staff with intuitive modeling tools, and creates a foundation for AI-driven insights that sharpen decision-making in real time. 👉 Learn more about how we built this AI-enabled platform: https://lnkd.in/ein9EjH5 TSPi #PublicSectorInnovation #GovTech #USDA

The UK Government's Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office-funded Land Facility supports national land governance reforms that protect tenure rights and unlock economic opportunities across Africa, Southeast Asia and Latin America. Abt Global Britain leads the Land Facility’s Decision Support Unit (DSU): developing and brokering evidence, delivering process evaluations, and coordinating learning so the Land Facility programme can adapt and deliver. Good governance means clearer rights, and better outcomes—for people and the land they live and work on. 💧In 1986, Congress expanded the Safe Drinking Water Act, tasking the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with regulating dozens of contaminants in just a few years. That mandate set in motion decades of scientific, economic, and technical work to make sure every American family could trust the water from their tap. Abt has been part of this journey. Our research was cited in EPA’s 1990 landmark Cost of a Clean Environment report, which helped establish the methods still used today to weigh the benefits and costs of environmental protections. Today, the challenge—and our role—is evolving: How do we protect communities as new contaminants emerge? Most recently, we: 🔹 Supported EPA in setting enforceable limits on #PFAS (“forever chemicals”) in drinking water, requiring utilities to monitor, report, and act when standards are exceeded. This rule protects 100 million people, reducing risks of cancer, developmental disorders, and other health harms. 🔹 Helped EPA strengthen requirements to locate and replace lead service lines, improve sampling, and lower the action threshold. EPA estimates the rule will prevent 900,000 low birthweight cases, 2,600 ADHD diagnoses, 1,500 early deaths from heart disease, and 200,000 IQ points lost every year. 🔹 Developed a series of pharmacokinetic models to estimate blood PFAS levels, including an online tool for users to estimate their personal PFAS exposure - no blood samples required. Clean water isn’t just science or policy: It’s a promise renewed for each generation. Abt is proud to keep that promise with EPA, scientists, and communities nationwide.
