Demanding that Oklahoma doctors sign an attestation about provision of abortion care and patient counseling or risk being removed from Oklahoma’s Medicaid, called SoonerCare, threatens doctors’ privacy and autonomy and patients’ access to care. The order is an unnecessary and harmful intrusion into the patient–physician relationship, an infringement upon doctors’ First Amendment rights, and a potentially dire blow to the more than one million Oklahomans who rely on state Medicaid. This RSV season, take the time to counsel your pregnant patients about RSV and the risk of infection to their newborns and young infants. Let your patients know that ACOG recommends all infants be protected from severe RSV by either the maternal RSV vaccine or a monoclonal antibody for the RSV season.
