Today, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service — especially the veterans who courageously battled ALS. Veterans are twice as likely to be diagnosed with ALS, a connection we continue to fight to understand and change. 🇺🇸 #MemorialDay #ALSAwarenessMonth #HonorOurHeroes #EndALS

Dan. David. Eleanor. Chuck. Myrtle. These are the names of Liz Garnsey’s family members who were diagnosed with ALS—including her father and grandmother. When Liz’s dad, Dan, started Team Travis—a walk team for ALS—in 2006, he had no idea he would be diagnosed just a few years later. And when Dan needed help, ALS United of Georgia was there. “The care and attention we received was amazing,” Liz says. ALS United of Georgia provided the practical, emotional, and financial support Dan and his family needed to manage life with ALS. From Kostiuk Care Grants that help offset some of the high cost of living with ALS to the Paul B. Williams Transportation Program that provides rides to medical appointments and family gatherings, your gift to ALS United of Georgia provides families at every stage of the disease with resources and services that aren’t offered anywhere else in the state. And, thanks to your generosity, Georgians living with ALS can access those services free of charge. Liz is determined to make sure other families have that same support. One day, she may need it too. Because Liz didn’t just inherit Dan’s love or his legacy. She inherited the same gene mutation tied to familial ALS. “If I ever need them, I know they’ll be there,” Liz says. “They were there for my dad. I’ll support that forever.” Give today: alsgeorgia.org/donate #ALSAwarenessMonth #StrikeOutALS #ALSUnited #ALSGeorgia

The #ALS community has secured a significant win with $40 million in funding for the United States Department of Defense ALS Research Program (ALSRP) for fiscal year 2025. This is especially critical as veterans are twice as likely to develop ALS as civilians. At a time when other research programs were defunded entirely, this funding is a huge step forward in the fight against ALS. But the work doesn’t stop here. We must continue pushing for policies that support those living with ALS and their families. Take action today: Make sure you're signed up for advocacy alerts to receive timely action items and stay informed on how you can make a difference locally and nationally. Your voice matters.
