APPA’s Legal & Regulatory Conference in San Diego, California, continues with impactful general and breakout sessions led by industry leaders and #EnergyPolicy experts. More than 200 attendees are gaining timely insights into the evolving legal and regulatory challenges facing #PublicPower utilities — while also connecting with their industry colleagues. Running through Wednesday, the conference offers a valuable forum for learning, networking, and collaboration.

In the latest episode of #PublicPowerNow, Kevin Bleau, Energy Resources Manager at Massachusetts #PublicPower utility Belmont Municipal Light Department (Belmont Light), and Doron Koll, an energy consultant at Daymark Energy Advisors, discuss a load research case study that informed Belmont Light’s rate design. APPA's Legal & Regulatory Conference kicked off yesterday in San Diego, California. The event is a forum for members to connect with #PublicPower's policy experts, and get updates and insights on the ever-changing legal and regulatory landscape confronting public power utilities. The Sunday pre-conference sessions covered the current pole attachment environment and utility contracts for resource acquisition and management. The conference runs through Wednesday.

This week, APPA's Demonstration of Energy & Efficiency Developments (DEED) Board met at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado for its annual Board Meeting. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow board members, and a special thanks to NREL for the tour of the Flat Irons Campus! The DEED program funds research, pilot projects, and education to improve the operations and services of #PublicPower utilities. Did you know Nebraska is the only state powered entirely by #PublicPower?⚡️That’s a fun fact worth noting during #PublicPowerWeek! Last week, APPA’s Senior Director of Environmental Policy, Carolyn Slaughter, spoke at the Power Summit in Lincoln, Nebraska, an annual event that fosters collaboration between the Cornhusker State’s electric utilities and regulatory agencies. The summit was co-sponsored by Lincoln Electric System, Nebraska Public Power District, Omaha Public Power District, and the Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment. Carolyn’s presentation focused on federal regulations shaping the future of the industry, part of APPA’s ongoing commitment to support and advocate for public power communities nationwide. #CommunityPowered
