We will rock #WACKEN2025 with our heavy metal launcher #Ariane6! 🤘🚀 Yes, you read that right: ArianeGroup is heading to the legendary Wacken Open Air (W:O:A) festival from 30 July to 2 August 2025! Alongside prominent players from the #SpaceIndustry, we’ll be rocking the W:O:A Space Camp, organised by BDLI - Bundesverband der Deutschen Luft- und Raumfahrtindustrie e.V. Expect a unique mix of science, metal and space tech – from interactive exhibits to hands-on experiences. Festival-goers will be able to participate in fun activities such as driving a lunar rover to test their dexterity, interactive games involving observation of the planet Earth, and manufacturing water rockets. And of course: 🔥 Get up close to a large Ariane 6 model and meet our #RocketMakers! Music and space missions? Both run on passion, precision, and a touch of craziness. 📅 Save the date for the next #Ariane6 flight: ⏰ On August 12, 2025 at 9:37 p.m. local time (00:37 a.m. UTC / 2:37 a.m. CEST, on August 13), ARIANESPACE will launch EUMETSAT’s Metop-SGA1 satellite with Ariane 6 from Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana. The mission, designated VA264, will be the second commercial flight for Ariane 6, the new European heavy-lift launcher. It will place its passenger, the Metop-SGA1 satellite, into Sun-Synchronous Orbit (SSO) at an altitude of around 800 km. ➡️ Stay tuned for more updates to come! #RocketMakers

🌐 Further progress for security and European sovereignty in space.   In July, ArianeGroup welcomed the #EMISSARY project partners and stakeholders to work together on the mission analysis and operational concept consolidation for the future European System of Space Situational Awareness (#SSA).   The representatives of Ministries of Defence and companies from 13 countries gathered during two days in a workshop format to deepen the operational expectations on the system.   #EMISSARY is a 4 years and €158 million European Defence Fund (#EDF) project supported by 13 European Member States and 46 partners and affiliated entities coordinated by Leonardo. ArianeGroup is leader of the Mission Analysis and Design work packages.   🛰️ EMISSARY aims at enhancing security and European sovereignty by further developing technologies to acquire and process Space Domain Awareness information. Ensuring Europe’s sovereignty in space is a common endeavour across borders and regions. 🇪🇺 Today, we had the honour of welcoming Boris Rhein, Minister-President of the German state Lander of Hesse, and his delegation to our site in Saint-Médard-en-Jalles Issac, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, joined by representatives of the Région Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Council. As a Franco-German industrial leader in space and defence, ArianeGroup plays a central role in enabling Europe’s autonomous access to space. With over 13,000 jobs across #Europe contributing to #Ariane6 – including more than 20 subcontractors and suppliers based in Hesse – this visit highlights the strength of our shared European industrial base. In Issac, the delegation visited our advanced Ariane 6 solid booster production line and the Helix programme facilities, ArianeGroup’s #SpaceSurveillance service for civil and military satellite operators. 🤝 This visit also celebrates the long-standing regional partnership between Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Hesse, which has been active since 1995 and continues to support innovation and collaboration across borders. It doesn’t fly. It crawls. But without it, no launches would have taken place for many years. 🚛 For 25 years, “Titan” carried Ariane 5 from the final assembly building to the launch pad in Kourou. 2.8 km at 3 km/h with the 780 tonnes weighting launcher standing tall, on a rail-mounted table. Slow, but with pinpoint precision. With Ariane 6, a new chapter has begun – not just for the launcher, but also for the transport systems. The new generation of vehicles is just as impressive: 🔹 The central core rides on an Automated Guided Vehicle, following a metal strip embedded in the road to avoid even the smallest torsion. 🔹 The new booster transporter has 36 aircraft-grade wheels, can move sideways like a crab, and is symmetrical so it can switch directions instantly. 🔹 Once at the launch zone, an enormous winch system helps raise the launcher in 12 steps, directly on the pad under the mobile gantry. Built and operated by France’s space agency Centre National d'Études Spatiales, the Ariane 6 launch complex is a feat of engineering in itself – and so are the vehicles that make access to space possible. 👏 Hats off to the teams behind this unique choreography of strength and precision! One year after #Ariane6 ’s inaugural flight, upcoming launches for #Copernicus and #Galileo confirm that Europe’s independent access to space continues to strengthen 🚀   #ArianeGroup was honored to be part of the event hosted by Ambassador Philippe Léglise-Costa to celebrate Bastille Day in France. Building a more responsible space industry with #SolarEnergy! 🔆 On 10 July, we officially inaugurated the new #SolarPower facility at our Saint-Médard-en-Jalles Issac site (Gironde) – a key milestone in a long-term programme launched in 2018 to integrate #RenewableEnergy into ArianeGroup’s energy mix and reduce the carbon footprint of our operations. This 2,596 kWc facility comprises 5,970 solar panels installed across 18 carport structures, covering 720 parking spaces. It will supply around 18% of the site’s electricity needs with a 96% self-consumption rate. The project was realised in partnership with URBASOLAR and supports several key objectives: ✅ Secure our long-term energy supply and costs ✅ Contribute to the ecological transition by developing renewable and less carbon-intensive energy sources ✅ Optimise non-buildable land on our sites ✅ Lower peak demand on the public power grid ✅ Improve staff facilities with shaded parking Issac is one of four installations commissioned in 2025, alongside Le Haillan and two at Les Mureaux. Together, these projects enable #ArianeGroup to cross a symbolic threshold: 20% of our electricity consumption is now covered by renewable solar energy. 🔋 And we’re not stopping there. another project is under review for the Saint-Médard-en-Jalles centre site, and we are actively exploring wind-generated electricity integration. It is our ambition to reach 40% renewable energy by 2027. This initiative is part of our wider #SpaceForEnvironment commitment, one of three pillars of ArianeGroup’s sustainability strategy, alongside Space for humankind and Space for progress.
