About us

The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) is a professional membership organization of songwriters, composers and music publishers of every kind of music. ASCAP's mission is to license and promote the music of its members and foreign affiliates, obtain fair compensation for the public performance of their works and to distribute the royalties that it collects based upon those performances. ASCAP members write the world's best-loved music and ASCAP has pioneered the efficient licensing of that music to hundreds of thousands of enterprises who use it to add value to their business - from bars, restaurants and retail, to radio, TV and cable, to Internet, mobile services and more. The ASCAP license offers an efficient solution for businesses to legally perform ASCAP music while respecting the right of songwriters and composers to be paid fairly. With over 925,000 members representing more than 11.5 million copyrighted works, ASCAP is the worldwide leader in performance royalties, service and advocacy for songwriters and composers, and the only American performing rights organization (PRO) owned and governed by its writer and publisher members. www.ascap.com

For Lucy Moss + Toby Marlow, the hits just keep on coming! Since winning the Tony for Best Original Score for their hit musical Six (which is still running to packed houses on Broadway), the duo has continued to tackle exciting projects that speak to their big-hearted and hilarious creative sensibilities. 🎭 Their recent musical, Why Am I So Single? – where two friends try to answer why they are single – is described as "riotously life-affirming" and "fizzing and flowing," and was met with big laughs on the West End. 🎭 They co-composed Dylan Mulvaney's one-woman show, The Least Problematic Woman in the world, with an all-star all-ASCAP team of Mark Sonnenblick, Ingrid Michaelson, and Abigail Barlow, now running Off-Broadway. 🎭 They are currently writing the original songs for the animated musical Bad Fairies starring Cynthia Erivo, with Isabella “Machine” Summers (Florence + The Machine) composing the score and contributing to the songs.

We are devastated by the passing of visionary soul icon D'Angelo, an ASCAP member for 30 years. His creative songwriting and earthy, analog approach to recording changed the sound of R&B, earned him 4 Grammys and continues to inspire countless music creators. What a legacy.

We can’t believe we knew him when 🥹 Country music superstar Brad Paisley has landed 33 self-penned, top 20 songs on the Billboard charts, including 15 #1s and 14 more in the top 10. Brad was first awarded ASCAP’s Country Songwriter/Artist of the Year in 2004 and took home the trophy again in 2011 and 2012. And now, he has officially been inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. We’ve been Brad’s biggest fans from the start! After moving to Nashville to attend Belmont University, he interned at as many places as possible, starting with ASCAP. Brad credits his ASCAP internship for shaping his career and helping him secure his first publishing deal. Brad, we’re honored to have been by your side throughout your career, and we are so excited to celebrate this incredible milestone with you!
