On Sunday evening, Austin Energy responded to outages related to a two-alarm structure fire at the 2900 block of IH 35. As a safety measure, Austin Fire requested Austin Energy temporarily shut off power to the affected circuit to protect equipment and support the safety of firefighters and emergency responders. This helps reduce additional risks and ensure safe access for emergency operations. Austin Energy isolated outages to the area where the fire occurred and restored power to as many customers as possible. The fire damaged four poles and wire, which had to be replaced, and power was restored to the last remaining 40 customers Monday morning. Whether it's a vehicle collision with a utility pole or a structure fire, our Austin Energy crews work together with Austin Fire to help secure the area, prevent hazards and disconnect power at the location to ensure the scene is safe for those involved. We're proud to collaborate with our partners across the City of Austin to keep our communities safe!
