Last week, Axia Medicine joined global leaders at BioTechX Europe 2025, where our founder Alessandro Riccombeni MBA, Ph.D. opened the conference, delivered Axia's talk and joined panels on "AI in Clinical Trials" and "Multimodal Data for R&D". When opening the conference, he shared a reflection on AI as a forcing function for industry-wide transformation. At Axia Medicine "The patient role" has always been clear: the patient role can only be the Protagonist. The TEFCA federal framework is a great step in the right direction. It reflects principles we’ve long believed in: individuals deserve transparency and control over their health data. Yet TEFCA should be seen as a foundation of patient-driven medicine, not as an end state. To realize Precision Medicine, patients must be at the center: as protagonists, not spectators. Patient centrality cannot emerge from legacy systems; it must be a core design principle from the start. Only then can Precision Medicine reach its full potential for every individual. Today, there is a lot of talk about giving patients more control. But are patients truly in control, or still spectators? Patient agency is the true measure of Precision Medicine.
