About us
Since 1984, the Arizona Food Bank Network has served five regional food bank members and a network of nearly 1,000 food pantries and agencies. As one of the first state food bank associations in the nation, we were instrumental in the development of a statewide transportation project. Through our advocacy efforts, we work to secure the safety net for our member food banks and the people they serve in Arizona. AzFBN develops food resources, promotes nutrition, advocates for public policy changes to help hungry people, fosters cooperation among food banks, networks with government, local, state and national leaders dedicated to ending hunger, and engages all sectors of society in hunger awareness and sensitivity. Today we're celebrating school meals with Governor Hobbs and Madison Park Middle School's 8th graders! Last year's funding for school meals meant that an additional 1.4 million meals made it to lunchrooms for low-income students each month. This is all thanks to the tireless work by advocates, and Governor Hobbs' leadership alongside the legislators who made this investment a reality for a second year! David Robinson, AzFBN's school nutrition subject matter expert, spoke today at the School Nutrition Association Annual National Conference. He spoke about recognizing and celebrating child nutrition programs as a key tool for building food security, methods to expand a school’s reach to feed more students, and ways schools can promote SNAP to support families and promote the Community Eligibility Provision. David has connected with 237 schools to support their child nutrition programming in big and little ways all across Arizona. We are so proud that he was able to offer his perspective at this gathering of nutritionists, administrators, advocates, and industry partners. David, thank you for sharing your expertise! #anc25 #ItsYourMoment #SchoolNutrition #BehindTheTray #MadeWithSchoolLunch #SNATV

Thank you, Governor Hobbs and Arizona state lawmakers, for prioritizing school meals and food security in the state budget! Funding ($3.8 million) to cover the Reduced Price school meal family copay was included in the final Fiscal Year 2026 budget that passed last weekend and went into effect today. AzFBN is especially grateful to Rep. Nancy Gutierrez and Rep. Oscar De Los Santos, who championed the critical school meals funding throughout the entire legislative session!
