In Ms. Rodriguez’s Unified Computer Science class at Armistead Gardens, pre-K students are getting an early start in STEM! Using Legos and coding Bee Bots to navigate a map, they’re practicing critical and creative thinking.

Curtis Bay partnered with Truist Bank to host a Banking and Budgeting Class for families. Ms. Sharhonda Jennings led the session, sharing valuable financial information and resources to support families in building money management skills.

Ms. Ryan-Martinez and her students from Youth Opportunity Academy celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month. Students in her Spanish class created posters showcasing different Hispanic cultures and shared food and treats.

City College students from the SOMOS club are leading Intercambio, a student-run program that helps Spanish-speaking families connect with their children’s schools. Parents gain confidence communicating with teachers, while students build leadership skills—and the whole community comes together. Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Board President Dr. Michael and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Smith along with the Mayor's Office visited Armistead Gardens to meet the school’s Inclusion Squad—fourth- and fifth-grade students leading efforts to promote inclusion—and to celebrate the school’s recognition as a Special Olympics Unified Champion School of North America, earned for meeting 10 national standards of excellence in inclusion.
