#BEREC15 🎉 – Celebrating 15 years of promoting full connectivity, supporting sustainable and open digital markets, and empowering end-users. Protecting and empowering Europe’s consumers is at the heart of BEREC’s work. Indre Jurgelioniene from RRT | The Communications Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Lithuania and Marina Ljubić Karanović from HAKOM are leading these efforts within the End-Users Working Group, by working with National Regulatory Authorities, consumer associations, and other stakeholders to create a transparent, safe, and inclusive digital space for all. Over the years, the Working Group has: 🔹 Assessed adequate broadband Internet access under Universal Service, examining how Member States address essential connectivity and reduce the digital divide. 🔹 Updated guidelines on quality of service to reflect market and technological developments, analysed how these changes affect consumer rights, and provided recommendations for future regulation. 🔹 Enhanced transparency in electronic communications, empowering end-users to make informed choices In this video, the Co‑Chairs reflect on why digital inclusion, safety, accessibility, and simplicity must remain the guiding principles for the future — ensuring every citizen can use and understand digital services as they become essential for everyday life. Over these years, BEREC’s Market and Economic Analysis Working Group has made significant contributions to shaping Europe’s telecommunications landscape. Co‑chaired by Iulia Zaim Grigore from ANCOM and Jordi Canadell from CNMC (Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia), the Group has worked on important guidelines and recommendations that balance investment and competition. Fraudulent activities and misuse of numbering resources increasingly affect both users and market players, highlighting the need for collective, expert action. At #BEREC, two of our working groups play a key role in strengthening the security and trustworthiness of Europe’s electronic communications: ➡️The Cybersecurity and Resilience Working Group supports the take-up of secure and resilient networks. The Roaming Regulation, first introduced in 2007, has significantly transformed the way how Europeans use their phones when travelling. 🌍 Since BEREC’s establishment, BEREC’s Roaming Working Group - Co-chaired by Ioanna Choudalaki from EETT and Elisabeth Felber from Rundfunk und Telekom Regulierungs-GmbH (RTR) — has been instrumental in supporting and implementing this success.
