On 13 June, CAMBER joined EvoRoads Project and iDriving Project during an online workshop to explore how data can support safer, more efficient road systems in Europe. Together, the projects shared progress, exchanged lessons, and identified ways to work together on shared challenges like data access, impact measurement, and real-world implementation. 🔍 Olivera Rozi and Despina Vounasis from CAMBER spotlighted its approach to low-cost, data-informed tools for public authorities—working directly with municipalities to make road safety more manageable and practical. 🤝 The workshop reinforced the value of cross-project collaboration to scale up what works and strengthen road safety across Europe. ▶️ Missed it? Our sister project EvoRoads Project is hosting an online workshop on "Implementing a holistic, data-driven safe system for all road users" on June 13! Don't miss this next week 🚧 

This week, the CAMBER project partners gathered in Zagreb for a productive two-day consortium meeting. This event brought together expertise from 14 partners to assess progress, tackle challenges, and plan the next steps in improving road safety and maintenance of urban and secondary across Europe. 🌟 Highlights from Day 1 included: 🔍 Discussions on the methodological and technical approach (WP2): progress, challenges, and next steps for 2025. 📡 Presentations on WP3 objectives, focusing on sensor technologies and probe vehicles for data collection. 💻 Insights into WP4 work on digital twins and WP5 pilot testing and evaluation plans. 📣 Strategies outlined in WP6 for communication, dissemination, and ensuring impact. 🚧 Day 2 included a visit with the Croatian Road Administration to explore practical maintenance and safety applications. The meeting reinforced CAMBER’s collaborative effort to address road safety challenges with real-time data and cost-effective solutions. 🌍🚦 We look forward to continuing our mission to enhance safety for all road users across the project’s five pilot countries. Did you know that 90% of traffic fatalities in Europe happen on local roads, not highways? The EU-funded CAMBER project is tackling this critical issue by focusing on safety improvements in urban and rural areas. In a recent interview, Isabela Erdelean, a mobility researcher at AIT Austrian Institute of Technology and leader of the data collection Work Package within the CAMBER project, shared how the project uses data from advanced tools like measuring vehicles, motorcycles, and even drivers’ smartphones to identify risks on roads. This data is then used to test practical, affordable safety measures on roads in five countries: Croatia, Greece, Spain, Portugal, and the Netherlands. The CAMBER Project successfully kicked off last week in Lisbon! 14 partners from nine European countries got together to begin collaborating on improving safety and maintenance on urban and secondary roads across Europe. Over the next three years, project will address pressing challenges in road safety and infrastructure management by integrating real-time data insights with cost-effective solutions, innovative interventions, and digital technologies. On day 1, partners outlined the project’s goals, responsibilities, and methodologies. Highlights included presentations on data collection and integration methods and the innovative pilot tests planned in five European locations: Cascais, Trikala, North Holland, Croatia, and Spain. On day 2 partners visited Cascais, where we learned about the city’s mobility initiatives through MobiCascais and explored how Cascais will contribute to CAMBER's pilot program. The study visit provided valuable insights into local mobility challenges and opportunities for innovation.
