Wednesday night we had the honor of celebrating Roger Hoff as our 2025 Caron DC Gala Honoree, recipient of the Richard J. Caron Award of Excellence. Roger’s journey is one of courage, transformation, and deep gratitude—and his words moved us all. “My name is Roger, and I stand before you as someone who has battled with alcohol addiction. I want to begin by expressing my heartfelt gratitude—first, by the Grace of God… by the patience and unwavering support of my wife, Erika… and the love of my family, who have been my anchor through everything.” In a powerful moment of reflection, Roger shared: “I come here tonight with a recognition of the importance of community, of healing, and of transformation. And I can honestly say that my presence here is a testament to the life-changing care provided by Caron.” “Caron didn’t just save my life; it gave my family hope. It equipped us with the tools, the understanding, and the support we desperately needed.” Roger, your authenticity and advocacy shine a light for so many walking the path to recovery. Thank you!! ✨✨ Many thanks to David Lazar, Regional VP Caron DC, 2025 Gala Committee, Greater DC Regional Advisory Board, and all our guests, donors, sponsors, family and friends who made this an exceptional evening for recovery.

We’re proud to see Dr. Steven Klein M.D.,Ph.D. of Caron Treatment Centers featured in a recent The New York Times article exploring the use of GLP-1 medications (like Ozempic) as a promising new tool in the fight against addiction. The article shares powerful stories of individuals like Jessica Massarone, whose recovery journey was transformed with the help of GLP-1 therapy. Dr. Klein, who prescribes these medications both at Caron and through a pilot program at OpenDoors of Rhode Island, offers key clinical insights into how GLP-1s are helping patients better regulate cravings — and, ultimately, rebuild their lives. Dr. Klein said that he’s seeing benefits in both groups. “They feel more in control,” he said. One patient told him, “I feel like my brain listens to me now.” This piece is a compelling reminder that innovation, combined with compassion and evidence-based care, can open new pathways to recovery for those who need it most.
