As students return to campus, we’re reflecting on the classrooms and labs we’ve designed that bring learning to life. From flexible lecture halls and collaboration zones to state-of-the-art research environments, we create adaptable layouts with sustainable design including energy-efficient systems and natural lighting. Each project is rooted in the same vision—to design environments that support students today and prepare them for the challenges of tomorrow. #HigherEducation #CampusDesign #LabDesign #LearningEnvironments

We're pleased to share Marin's insight as a panelist for Bisnow's SoCal Architecture and Design Summit. http://bit.ly/4lXP4zZ
Firmwide Head of Design and Design Principal at CJ+C | Elevating Client & Community Impact with Design Intelligence
Thank you to our hosts Bisnow, my fellow panelists, and our dynamic moderator, Sofia Szabo, for the great discussion this week at the Southern California Architecture and Design Summit. Some of my favorite takeaways: Michelle Levy - LA is making significant planning regulation improvements, valuing form-based code to help make permit reviews more objective Mark Motonaga - One of the key powers of placemaking and the 15-minute city is the ability to save people time. Ruby Rose Yepez, MPA "Energy Smart Mama" - Highlighted the importance of understanding current and future schedules for power infrastructure as we select communities for zoning updates. Joey Shimoda - Adaptive reuse should always be considered; it's one of the most significant opportunities across the nation Tiffany Dahlen - Emphasized the impact of art in shaping our environment and everyday experiences. This was one of many discussions to come, as we all share the responsibility of creating a better environment for the next generation. By engaging with policymakers, the design community can make meaningful steps towards achieving our regional housing and placemaking goals. #DesignSummit #ArchitectureSummit #Placemaking #UrbanDevelopment #DesignPolicy #Carrier Johnson + Culture

Across the U.S., cities are grappling with escalating temperatures, the urban heat island effect, and the challenge of designing communities that can adapt to climate change while remaining livable and welcoming. In San Diego’s Mission Valley, Civita demonstrates how natural cooling strategies, ecological restoration, and human-scaled planning can converge to transform a challenging site into a thriving, climate-resilient neighborhood. - Carrier Johnson + Culture https://lnkd.in/gBjftZqv #design #architecture #urbanheatisland

CJ+C recently welcomed Biozenic to lead a succulent plant workshop at our downtown San Diego office. In the midst of project meetings and deadlines, it was time to take a breather and reconnect with nature! They brought all of the necessary plant supplies for a hands on experience and presented their plant-forward design displays that bring life to architectural spaces. From custom greenery to biophilic installations, their work reminds us that thoughtful design is as much about what you feel as what you see and touch. Thank you, Biozenic, for the inspiration— and the plants! #TeamCulture #BiophilicDesign #PlantWorkshop #ArchitectureAndNature

How do we empower beyond a social media post? This was just one of the several questions asked at a recent event co-curated by our Associate, McKenna Leventhal, and her partner at WEA (WE in Architecture), a committee of AIA San Diego and AIA Palomar. Over wine and conversation, attendees gathered to connect offline—sharing stories, perspectives, and experiences that don’t always make it to the digital surface. The goal? To create space. For dialogue, for visibility, and for building each other up. When we meet in person and listen deeply, we begin to shift the narrative—not just as individuals, but as a collective that reflects the real world we live and design in. Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared openly, and made new connections. We’re proud to support and celebrate spaces like this. #WEA #WeInArchitecture #WomenEmpoweringArchitecture #CommunityInDesign #DesignCulture #RepresentationMatters #RealConversations #HumanCenteredDesign #DesignDialogue #BeyondThePost
