CCSD21 is a school district comprised of 13 schools across six different communities in northwest suburban Chicago. We serve nearly 7,000 pre-K through 8th grade students. The purpose of District 21 schools is to provide a learning environment for all students to become lifelong learners and productive citizens.

Today, we recognize Indigenous Peoples’ Day — a time to honor and celebrate the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Native peoples across the Americas. In observance of the holiday, there are no classes today, and the District 21 Health Center is closed. Indigenous Peoples’ Day serves as a reminder to learn from and uplift the voices of Indigenous communities, whose traditions and resilience continue to shape our world. #21Learns
Wrapping up Banned Books Week! 📕 Over the past week, our students joined readers across the country in celebrating the freedom to read. Banned Books Week highlights stories that have been challenged or removed from schools and libraries, reminding us of the importance of open access to diverse ideas and voices. At Holmes Middle School, some of our Hornets spent time exploring a selection of banned and challenged books, including Louis Sachar's "Holes," Shel Silverstein's "Where the Sidewalk Ends," and Walter Dean Myers' "Monster." This gave them a chance to have meaningful conversations about perspective, choice and the power of storytelling. #21Learns
