  • Mayor Robin Christiansen and City of Dover Police Department Chief Thomas Johnson each stood at the podium today at a press conference to ask the local community to assist with putting an end to the violence that is plaguing the Dover community. They both talked about the work being done by the local police department, law enforcement partners, elected officials, church leaders, school officials, local businesses, the NAACP and state agencies to stop this violence at its roots. The Chief noted that the community has programs and technology to fight and even prevent violence. But they both added that they also need the help of the community to report crimes. The Mayor closed out his remarks by asking for people in the room to stand with him in support of this effort to end violence. Many people joined the Mayor at the podium in a show of solidarity, including the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce President, Dina Vendetti. • The CDCC Board and Staff took the time on Tuesday for our annual retreat. We spent the day at Bally's Dover Casino Resort with an ambitious agenda including a presentation on "A Leadership Mindset" by Dr. Rob Rescigno, president of Collaborative Consulting, a presentation of our 2025-2027 Strategic Plan, a panel discussion with a cross section of our membership, brainstorming and idea sharing, and delicious food. We are grateful to Bally's for hosting us, to Rob for helping us see our roles in a new light, and to the participating members for taking time from their busy days to help us learn how we can better serve our membership. The Board members and staff left the gathering feeling energized and inspired to start our new fiscal year.
