Chan Zuckerberg Initiative reposted this ⏰ The deadline is approaching to apply to be an Investigator at the New York Biohub! 🔊 We are now accepting applications for New York Biohub’s Investigator Award Program. This program supports visionary scientists and engineers from #CZBiohubNY’s three partner institutions, Columbia University, The Rockefeller University, and Yale University, to do high-risk, high-reward research on deciphering the molecular language of immune cells, enabling these cells to be deployed for disease detection, prevention, and treatment. Learn more and apply by Dec. 9 ⤵️ https://lnkd.in/eP-VX3nt

Chan Zuckerberg Initiative reposted this Thrilled to share our expanded collaboration with NVIDIA Healthcare at #NVIDIAGTC to accelerate virtual cell model development for unlocking new insights about human biology. Through our virtual cells platform, researchers can now explore large, harmonized datasets, access AI-powered models like CZI’s rBio and GREmLN and NVIDIA’s MONAI-based imaging models and CodonFM, and benchmark their own models with cz-benchmarks — all tools that empower researchers to understand disease at the cellular level and test new ways to prevent or treat it. We’re in an era where AI can help drive biology forward, and it’s exciting to see how these advances are enabling community-driven breakthroughs.

Science should be open and inclusive by design. 💡✨ As we close out this year’s Open Science meeting, we can’t help but feel inspired by the leaders who have shown us that open science is not just about access, but about agency, empowering people everywhere to create, collaborate, and contribute to discovery. From the lively discussions to innovative project showcases, this week reaffirmed that shared data, tools, and ideas spark new connections and accelerate discovery. #OpenScience #TeamCZI #Collaboration #Community

Chan Zuckerberg Initiative reposted this When my mom was a teenager, my grandparents made the unimaginable decision to send her on a boat across the South China Sea, guided by their faith that a better life was waiting on the other side. It might sound hard to believe, but I think about that act of courage nearly every day — and how it inspires me to build a better future for others through science. To me, innovation in science means giving brilliant minds the tools and freedom to explore the unknown — and translating discovery into hope. I’m so proud to lead Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and thrilled to see our groundbreaking science recognized by The Wall Street Journal Magazine.

We’re so proud to see Priscilla Chan be part of #WSJInnovators for her leadership in basic science research. Every day, she brings curiosity, compassion, and focus to advancing our mission to help scientists cure, prevent, or manage all disease. Congratulations, Priscilla — and thank you for inspiring us all. We’ve been proud to support David Fajgenbaum, MD, MBA, MSc since the early days of our Rare As One Network. After surviving Castleman disease, David helped build a patient–researcher community that uncovered a treatment keeping him in remission for 15 years. Today, through the Castleman Disease Collaborative Network and Every Cure, he’s using AI to uncover new uses for existing drugs — opening up possibilities for treatments for people with rare diseases. I recently had the chance to sit down with David Fajgenbaum, MD, MBA, MSc — a physician, scientist, and patient who’s transforming how we discover new treatments. We’ve been longtime fans and early supporters of David through the Rare as One Network. After surviving Castleman disease, David co-founded the Castleman Disease Collaborative Network to unite patients and researchers, and later launched Every Cure to systematically uncover new uses for existing drugs using AI. His work is a powerful example of what’s possible when patients lead, communities come together, and technology accelerates discovery. Proud to continue partnering with David as he brings new hope to the rare disease community.

There’s a problem with AI for biology: every lab collects data differently, so it’s difficult to combine everything into one big picture that AI can learn from. To solve this, we outlined a strategy for collecting and sharing data so scientists can more easily use AI to study cells. https://czi.co/4n86I4s #AI #ML #Biology #science #data

What if we could measure the health of our immune systems as easily as checking our pulse? That’s the vision behind the Human Immunome Project, featured this week in MIT Technology Review. The story highlights immunologist John Tsang, and #CZBiohubNY Investigator + Steering Committee member, whose research is helping reveal how the immune system changes with age, stress, and disease. This work could one day make immune health a vital sign of its own. Read more: http://bit.ly/46MGShO
